Before you ask.
- Does the customer need an app?
- No. They tap a card, phone or watch on the box and they are done. Nothing to download, no account to make, no email address collected at the box.
- Can one box do both tips and donations?
- Yes. Tipping and donations run on the same hardware. The wording, the amounts and the color on screen change, and pricing follows whichever side you are on.
- What is the Tip Box Mini?
- A smaller Tip Box for counters and desks. It is cordless, on a charging cradle, so it sits right where a guest can see it and tap to reward great service. Same tap, same campaigns, same dashboard and the same $59 per month software fee. It costs $199, or nothing down at $69 per month on a 24-month term.
- Can several boxes share one campaign?
- Yes. The campaign engine lets you configure boxes together so a location or an event rolls up to a single campaign, or give each box a campaign of its own.
- Can Tip Box split tips across a team?
- Yes. Pool a whole location or a single shift and split it evenly or by hours worked. When you close the period you get one clean payroll export, and managers and supervisors are kept out of the pooled tips the way federal law requires.
- Do donors get a receipt?
- Yes, sent automatically. A registered 501(c)(3) sends a tax-deductible acknowledgment with the right language, and a school, team or club that is not a charity sends a simple payment receipt instead. Gifts, funds, refunds and chargebacks all export cleanly for your bookkeeper.
- Will it survive outside?
- The full-size Tip Box is rugged and outdoor-rated. It is designed for a valet stand, a cart path or an outdoor event, not only a countertop. The Tip Box Mini is the smaller, battery-powered box for counters and desks.
- Who pays the processing fee?
- It is charged as a cost on the transaction rather than netted out automatically. Depending on your state rules it can be taken out of the tip or gift, absorbed by you, or covered by the customer or donor at the box.
- How do we get the money?
- Deposits go to your bank account on a regular schedule. Every tap appears in your dashboard, so the totals reconcile without guesswork.
- What does the hardware cost?
- There are two boxes, both with published prices. The full-size Tip Box is $599 one-time, or nothing down at $79 per month on a 24-month term. The Tip Box Mini is $199 one-time, or nothing down at $69 per month on a 24-month term. After a no money down term the fee drops to the standard rate and the box is yours. Delivery and any tax are quoted with your order.
- How long does setup take?
- You configure the box before it goes out: your logo, your colors, your language and your amounts. On site it is a matter of setting it down and plugging it in.
